The Irish Republican Army
Welcome lads!
Today we fight against the dogsthat would be oppressing our true Irsh heritage and freedoms! Too long have we splintered and fractured off from group to group. Our enemies don't have to defeat us as we beat ourselves by splintering and fighting amongs ourselves. But no more! Today we stand united , not as the ORIA, not as the CIRA, not as the RIRA. Today, we re THE IRA! And we fight until we are indepent and free!
Yours,
Paddy O Shaugnessy
In case you miss the point: These are the bad guys.
They have claimed reposnsibility for several bombings, assasinations and are generally terrorizing their way though Ireland and Great Britain to make a point.
History of the IRA:

The Irish Republican Army
The playwright and former IRA member Brendan Behan once said that the first issue on any IRA agenda was "the split". For the IRA, that has constantly been the case. The first split came after the signature of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in 1921, with supporters of the Treaty forming the nucleus of the National Army while the anti-treaty forces continued to use the name Irish Republican Army. After the end of the Irish Civil War, the IRA was around in one form or another for forty years, when it split into the Official IRA and the Provisional IRA in 1969. The latter then had its own breakaways, namely the Real IRA and the Continuity IRA, each claiming to be the true successor of the Army of the Irish Republic.
1921
Original IRA (the "old" IRA) - fought in the War of Independence 1919-1921 - and accepted the compromise of the 1921 treaty which established the Irish Free State and that became the initial Free State government. Its supporters became the modern-day Fine Gael Party, currently the largest party in Ireland. With additional recruits, it became the National Army, later known as the Irish Defence Forces
1922
1969 The Irish Republican Army (1922–1969) - the anti-treaty faction of the IRA which fought and lost the civil war and which thereafter refused to recognise either the Irish Free State or Northern Ireland, deeming them both to be creations of British imperialism. It existed in one form or another for over 40 years before splitting in 1969.1969

The Official IRA (OIRA) came to be from the remainder of the IRA after they split with the Provisional IRA (PIRA) in 1969 over the former's failing to protect Catholic communities in Northern Ireland and the OIRA's Marxist political views. Since the decline of the OIRA in the mid 1970s, the term 'IRA' (without qualifiers) is now used exclusively to denote the Provisional IRA.
1986
The Continuity IRA (CIRA), broke from the PIRA in 1986 because the latter ended its policy recognising the authority of the Republic of Ireland.
1997
The Real IRA (RIRA), a 1997 breakaway from the PIRA consisting of members opposed to the peace process.
2011
In April 2011, former members of the Provisional IRA announced a resumption of hostilities, and that "they had now taken on the mantle of the mainstream IRA." They further claimed "We continue to do so under the name of the Irish Republican Army. We are the IRA." and insisted that they "were entirely separate from the Real IRA, Oglaigh na hEireann (ONH), and the Continuity IRA." They claimed responsibility for the April killing of PSNI constable Ronan Kerr as well as responsibility for other attacks that had previously been claimed by the Real IRA and ONH.[
For example, if the U.S. objective is to hold a base,
and the the enemy forces PREVENT them from taking control of
the base, the the enemy get points for stopping the mission
(say they prevented the Marines from getting close by
forming a perimeter around it.) . If the the enemy mission
was to blow that base up or take it themselves, they get
MORE points for not only stopping the U.S. Mission, but
accomplishing their own counter mission. Devious bastards
aren't they. Nobody said war was fair. But Marines adapt and
overcome.
Fashion Tips
One of the strnegths of the IRA is that they look like average citizens and you can't tell who is an extremist and who is out buying groceries or tending the sheep. To that effect it is to the terrorists advanatage that they dress like the civilian population. This means that camouflage is bad. Camouflage means you are a combatant and will probably be shot on site, whereas dressed like a civilian may buy you an extra few seconds since the Marines are NOT supposed to shoot any civilians. The IRA wears: Jeans and any non-military syle clothing just like any civilian.
